Another year comes to a close here on Soles of Silk . Once more I am here to celebrate the models who spent the most time in front of my camera wiggling their toes, kicking off their sneakers, squishing some yummy foods under their soles, and all kinds of other fun things they did with their feet in 2023. These ladies deserve all the accolades for going above and beyond. Every shoot was a great time and the results, well, let me just say you'll be seeing a lot from these ladies when My 10 Favorite Sets of 2023 is published next week. Before moving on, however, I'd like to mention that this year was a tough one for me. I had some personal things I needed to work out earlier this year. Those things paired with a few regular models stepping away, made scheduling shoots a little tough this year. One could say that 2022 was the year of returns for Soles of Silk . I worked with only 10 models throughout the course of the year to create new content. The majority of them hadn't had any camera time in over a year, with one coming close to six years. Even a few regulars hadn't shoot in quite some time. They just had so many sets in my backlog, waiting to be published, that one would never know. To the naked eye, they appeared as if they've never been gone. Last year the pandemic put a hold on my frequency of shooting, resulting in only four models finding camera time for the site. Thankfully, I was sitting on so much unpublished content that things worked out just fine. Here in 2021, I was able to find more time to shoot, although it still wasn't like years past where I shot dozens upon dozens of sets. A few models have moved on from shooting and others have just been next to impossible to schedule. Still, just like every year, several models went above and beyond to earn a place as one of the year's Star Models. These are those models: 3 . (tied) Noelle Debuted : 2016 # of sets posed for in 2021 : 7 Earlier this year Noelle and I touched base for the first time in what felt like forever. She debuted her size 7 soles back in 2016 when she shot alongside Mindee and Rilynn . We shot back-to-back days and then it took almost five years to meet up again! This year's Star Models listing is going to be ever so slightly different. Usually, in these lists, I name the Top 3 models who shot the most new sets during the calendar year. Well, it goes without saying that 2020 was not a typical year. I didn't shoot too much at all in 2020. Hell, until the end of summer, I had only shot two sets total, both with Kaycee . Luckily, however, a few other models got into the mix once they began feeling comfortable with shooting again. Since a total of four models shot for me in 2020, all of them are going to be represented - and rightfully so. Those models are Ava , Kaycee, Juliet , and Allie . Ladies, in a year that was so uncertain, you all kicked off your shoes and made sure Soles of Silk had enough content to make it through the year. Getting together with each and every one of you was a great time, each and every time. I wish we would have had another month or so of warm weather so we could have shot a few more times too. I had big ideas for 2019 when it came to Soles of Silk . I feel like I was able to make most of those ideas become a reality over the course of the year, but there ended up being a cost. That cost was shooting new content. Over the last few years, I made a few plans each and every month in the spring and summer to shoot new sets. What that meant for 2019, however, was that I was starting the year with just over two years worth of unpublished sets. That's a lot! Too much! As much as I love shooting new content, I needed to get these sets onto the site, and 2019 gave me the opportunity. For starters, 15 sets were slated to go onto the site as part of my 15th anniversary remakes. Then, during October, I had Cereal Killers Month, where another 10 sets made their way onto the site. Add in some other timely holiday sets and such, and I already had a calendar taking shape well before 2019 even began.
