2010 Soles of Silk Year in Review

Image
Mindee was a big part of 2010 on Soles of Silk. The blog below was originally published in Soles of Silk's Column section. It was archived and then republished here in 2016. When I worked for a newspaper a few years ago at the end of every year we'd pack our final issue with a bunch of year in review stuff. At first I hated it and thought it was a cheap way to fill space. Even though that's pretty much what it does, I also think sometimes it serves a purpose. If done correctly, they're great reflections on a year that was. In closing out 2010 and making way for 2011 on Soles of Silk, I wanted to take a look back at all the things that stood out to me. Time to take a look at the year that was 2010. Year Of Mindee Perhaps no other model on the site had a year like Mindee . It seemed like when Wu posted her Power Girl & Piggies feature set on his site,  Wu's Feet Links , people couldn't get enough of her. I already found her fan base to be considerable

2010 Soles of Silk Trivia Contest Results

I was quite surprised by the lack of turn out for this year's trivia contest. In years past there were a good number of both member and non-member entries. This year only eight people entered. With seven prizes to be given out, I just went ahead and gave everyone at least one month memberships for bothering to enter. The two highest scores, I still awarded the three month prizes. I'm not sure if all you members think these contests are only for non-members, but if you do, they're not! This is why I put on the rules pages that it is open to both members and non-members. Giving free months to existing memberships is not a problem to do, so please feel free to enter these in the future. Below I went ahead and wrote all the correct answers below the questions, in case you were curious to what they were. Next to the answers, I also listed the per

Aliza's Removal

Aliza was removed from the site shortly after her debut. The blog below was originally published in Soles of Silk's Column section. It was archived and then republished here in 2016. In early November I debuted a new Asian model named Aliza - an 18 year old coworker and friend. Her photo sets, of which only one was posted, were really cute and fun. She was an instant hit with many of you based off the forum comments and emails I received. Sadly, Aliza is no longer on Soles of Silk. Last week I was laying down to go to sleep when I noticed that I had missed several calls from her. I sent her a text to see what she had called me about. It was late and I didn't want to wake her if she had went to bed. When I got her reply, I felt terrible, upset, mad, and a countless other feelings all at once. Basically, my stomach sank. Aliza told me that her father found out that she had posed for Soles of Silk and was really upset with her. Even though she is 18, she lives at home when

An Asian Sensation

The blog below was originally published in Soles of Silk's Column section. It was archived and then republished here in 2016. I am so excited about this coming Sunday. I am adding yet another 18 year old to the site named Aliza . This new model just turned 18 less than a week ago and has been excited to pose for me for quite some time. And by the title, you might have figured out that she is Asian. I first met this friend when she was hired at work. She was 17 at the time and worked in the same area I did. I trained her and she quickly became friends with some of the other girls at work - a few like Kellie , Kayleigh , Charlee , Katie , and Jamie - either had already posed for me, or since have. They asked her if she was going to pose when she turned 18 - pretty much like they do to all the girls they become friends with. Yes, they like posing for the site and tell the new girls they should too. I, of course, always interject with the, "when you turn 18, you can." At fi

Soles of Silk Wallpaper Design Contest Results

The blog below was originally published in Soles of Silk's Column section. It was archived and then republished here in 2016. What started out looking to be another slow Design Contest turned out to be quite good. The first time I ran a Wallpaper Design contest there were 25 entries submitted. With the popularity from that first one, the next one I thought would go over big. I was wrong and the second one only saw nine total entries sent in. I really thought the turn out would be closer to the second contest this time around too, but with some last minute submissions, the total ended up matching that of the first contest at 25. I must say I was quite pleased with the diversity of the model selection, the artwork itself, and the creativity that went into them designs. Not liking to be the one to judge these contests, I once again asked two of the sole mates to do it for me. I would only have served as a tie breaker if they're scoring resulted in ties. That didn't happen
